Hello Friends!

I enjoyed a nice Mother’s Day with my mom. My kids are all out of state and I did get to speak with each of them so that makes a mom happy!

It’s been a month of settling in to my new place and ramping up even more, my online and offline presence. I’m truly understanding the phrase…’20 years to an overnight success’! That’s what it can feel like at times!

I’ll be heading out to Greece later in the month [yes, interesting timing on that trip!] and then will be back to unveil my new site and programs, so stay tuned!

Q:  I haven’t been happy in my corporate job for the past two years and was just offered a leadership position in Dubai.  There are a lot of issues to sort through in making an overseas move like that, could you give me some ideas on how to make best decision possible.  Thanks.

Hi John,

Congratulations on that opportunity.  I know you love the Expat life, especially since you’ve had an experience of working overseas in the past with your six year relocation to Singapore.  Sounds like you’re ready to make a more thoughtful decision than writing it on a napkin and moving the next week on a whim. You’re more mature in your decision making process now, anticipating your consequences before taking decisive action and I’m happy to guide you in seriously considering another overseas assignment.  Let’s talk about it from a fresh perspective, from where you are in your life right now.

I’ll share with you some processes I use in my Decisive Action System™ that allows my clients to get out of overwhelm in making a big decision, and stay focused on your priorities and outcomes.

First, decide what your Outcome is in making this move.

• How would you learn and make a contribution?
• What are you really committed to here?
• What is the result you’re looking for?

What is the Purpose in making this new decision?

• What are you passionate about when you consider this move?
• What do you need to focus on to work smarter, not harder?
• What new experiences excite you?
• How will your life be different?
• What about this move supports your long term goals?

What is your Evidence that this decision is right for you?

• What are the rewards and/or consequences?
• How will you know?
• Is it important for you to generate a new network of peers, activities outside of work, vacations back home?

What are your Options in making this decision?

• Create 3-5 choices
• If you only have two options, that’s not a choice; it’s an ‘either/or’ dilemma, and it’s hard to move forward when there’s an unconscious ‘dilemma’ in the way of your success.
