A Working Sabbatical??

What about you? Do you desire a sabbatical? Yes, I realize that most sabbaticals are an opportunity to get away from your work, yet when you’ve created a career [like I have!] that you love, you really can’t tell the difference between work and play. And if it’s been a priority to you like it is to me, maybe you’ve recreated your career so you can choose to continue your work from any environment.

I’ve got to tell you, it was a lot of work preparing to work from another location for a month. I see clearly why some people don’t do what it takes to live their dreams. And yet once I got clear and made the decision I started talking about it and so much support showed up that allowed me to be here. If you focus on the how, or the logistics, you’ll probably view a sabbatical as just one more good idea that you’re not going to follow through with. Yet when you truly associate to your outcome, associate to your WHAT and WHY, when that becomes your priority and focus, the logistics don’t take center stage in your plans, rather they are something you simply check off your list as you stay fully associated to your outcome.

A sabbatical is time away from your typical routine – a time to immerse thumbnail3yourself in a different environment, giving you a chance to see your life from a different perspective. Here are some of the reasons my clients choose a sabbatical, and as you’ll see, there’s a variety of reasons why.

  • Learning a new language or skill
  • Considering a second career or retirement
  • Contributing to a community or organization you’re passionate about
  • Creating an amazing adventure
  • Time away for self reflection and purpose
  • Opportunity to connect deeply with your dreams
  • Slowing down to listen to what your heart and soul are telling you
  • Taking an earned respite
  • Writing the book that’s been inside of you
  • Rediscovering your specific needs and goals
  • Planning for fundamental life changes
  • Discovery through personal growth and exploration

In fact the freedom to explore beyond the bounds of your normal routine is often essential if you are to connect deeply with yourself and your vision for what is next in life.

Part of the reason that sabbaticals have such an enduring appeal is that they might offer people a chance to be themselves rather than their work roles (i.e., a CEO or a doctor). Stepping outside of your false identity (that you are your job) gives you access to immense personal freedom and spiritual renewal.

And, it is not uncommon for clients to take their significant other or their entire family. It is inspirational and life changing for all parties involved.

Right about now you might be thinking about all the reasons why you can’t do this. Start by writing those negative or disempowering thoughts down on one side of the paper, and on the other side write the empowering or positive thought or idea to focus on instead. This will allow your brain to begin considering other choices you might not have thought about before. And check in with your heart, with your intuition, what do they want you to pay attention to?

Q:  Hey Joy, Lately I’m feeling disconnected from my own life and my passions.  Can you help me with that?       –Aaron from Ohio 

A: Hey Aaron,  Just so you know, it’s natural to feel disconnected from time to time in life.  Maybe you’re feeling a little stuck though?  If you haven’t taken some time for yourself lately to connect with YOU, it is easy to feel disconnected.

Here are some ideas for you Aaron, to rebuild those connections.

  1. Spend quiet time alone, with just you.  Listen deeply, ask great questions.    What are you proud of?  What are you grateful for?  What do you really feel, think, want? Get in touch with your truth, relive those moments, Aaron, those moments when you were absolutely ‘on your game’
  2. Accept yourself, the good the bad and the ugly!  You’re right where you need to be on your journey!  Rather than being in judgment of yourself – your achievements, your body, your life path…how about practicing some self love??  No, it’s not for sissies!  The most successful people I know have learned to love themselves.
  3. Pay attention to your self talk.  What do you notice that you say to yourself?  Is it kind and loving?  Or are you beating yourself up??  Thoughts and emotions are a powerful way to influence your reality.  If you don’t have the life you want, create empowering, positive self talk and questions.  Listen to your true voice. 
  4. Treat yourself!  What haven’t you treated yourself to in a long time…a massage…a quiet walk in nature…booking your next vacation…calling someone who makes you laugh so hard…whatever it is, commit to one loving action NOW … just because you love it and yourself!
  5. Remember, The Most Important Connection In Your Life Is To YOU! Love yourself…celebrate your successes…make things happen…contribute to yourself and others…and remember, LIFE IS A PROCESS, NOT AN OUTCOME.

What I’ve learned about connection is that when you are ‘filled up’ there is so much more available to you and for others.  It’s about making that decision to ‘show up’ in your life, No Matter What!!  Don’t hang out on the sidelines, being unconscious like many people out there.  Take a Stand!  Step it up.  This is your life, and it’s your responsibility to create it in a way that you can be proud.

I’m down here for a month coaching my awesome clients and creating new programs for YOU. And of course there’s also time for reflecting, reading, biking, rollerblading and hiking the mountains – this photo captures my favorite time of day here – near sunset when the mountains and desert turn a vibrant red-orange.

Everybody Needs a Human Firewall

What is electrosmog?
The term “electrosmog” is an artificial term, but is the best way to describe the pollution of our environment with electromagnetic fields. We can smell and see the smog causing air pollution, however, the pollution of our environment with electromagnetic fields is not apparent to us in any direct way.

Influence of electrosmog
The human body is influenced by electromagnetic radiation. When the commands from our brain cannot be directed the right way, it can lead to misinterpretations. It also leads to miscommunications in the cell metabolism which is causing dysfunctions of the organs and after a long term influence can cause cell mutations. The human gets sick. The normally self-regulating processes of the human body are heavily disturbed through electromagnetic influences.

The human body – a perfect machine
In a normal state and without any influences from out- or inside, the body is in a harmonic balance. In this state you feel healthy, relaxed and just good. If this balance is being disturbed by negative influences from outside, the body would then regulate with different mechanisms to get back to the natural state.

When the human body is influenced by such electrosmog, the regulating commands of the brain cannot be delivered and acted upon in the right way anymore.

It can lead to miscommunications in the cell metabolism which causes dysfunctions of the organs and after a long term influence can cause cell-mutations. The human gets sick. The normally self-regulating processes are heavily disturbed through electromagnetic influences.

Everybody needs a Human Firewall to protect and strengthen us against the negative side-effects of the modern lifestyle. Not only does your computer need a Firewall to keep from getting viruses, your system (organism) also needs a Human Firewall.

Unfortunately, we cannot hide from electro- and radiation smog, especially in the field of high frequency communication where digital frequency patterns will continue to increase in the next few years. Day and night we are exposed to the electromagnetic fields, or electrosmog, which also reaches through walls. Hiding, therefore, is impossible.
