Dec 2011 PersonalNovember was another busy month [I know I say that every month!], this time with my feet firmly planted on the ground rather than in Florida’s coastal waters.

My team and I have been privileged to be working on a number of opportunities with leaders of various companies.  This is what we’ve been noticing:  Companies do realize the importance of the Vision and the Plan – as this is all very important and the first step – yet what I see missing consistently is the Implementation and the Accountability –

This month’s Featured News is about seeing your plan all the way through.  And yes, that does include implementation and accountability – while you’re enjoying the journey, of course!

This month’s Q&A is from Gretchen – looking for that elusive balance as she finishes up her goals and embraces the holidays too.

Comment from a pleased client this month:

“Thank you for being so giving of yourself and your wisdom.  You are changing the world!”

As you begin to envision 2012, be sure to consider coaching now more than ever.  And finally…this is the last time you’ll hear it this year: If you haven’t achieved your 2011 goals, don’t waste another year away – NOW is the time to finalize next year’s strategy with an expert and a system by your side!

Have an outstanding holiday month with those near and dear to you,

Joy-fully,

Implementation and Accountability

accountabilityHave you ever been so excited about a vision for your business that you couldn’t wait to get started making it happen?

Have you ever built an unbreakable plan, got your strategy in place, and then as time passes you lose focus?

Sure the vision and plan need attention for success to occur, but without implementation of the plan, you will not see the results you desire.

How to see your plan all the way through, from vision to result:

1. Create a crystal clear vision. In order to see the end results, you need to become clear on what those results are going to look like. Where do you see your business in 3 months from now? 6 months? 1 year? 3 years? Determine how you want your business to run and where you see your success. The more detailed you are the better.

2. Transfer your vision into a plan. After you decide on your vision, you need to develop it into a plan. How are you going to get from A to B. Prioritize your vision based on what you need to implement now and what can wait. You are already clear on where you are now and where you want to finish, so what do you need to do to get there?

3. Create small and manageable goals. Breaking your plan into more manageable goals helps you stay on task. Set weekly goals to keep you focused or have a weekly “to do” list. When you have smaller goals, it feels easier to accomplish them, rather than a few large goals.

4. Devote attention to your plan. After you become clear on your plan don’t put it in a drawer and forget about it. Maintain your focus by putting it somewhere you can see – maybe up on your wall or on the back of your door. Once you find the perfect spot, schedule time each week to review your plan and how you are staying on task.

5. Find an accountability partner. Accountability is essential for making your vision a reality! Whether you hire a coach or have a business partner, find someone who will keep you on track. Having someone hold you accountable who is not attached to the outcome and so has an unbiased view, will help you implement your plan. Articulating your vision to this person helps both of you clearly understand your vision and how you see it unfolding, and what you need from them to help you succeed.

6. Celebrate your successes. To keep your motivation and implementation going strong, set up celebrations for your milestone attainment. You may want to schedule a small weekend trip or take a day off to keep you motivated and rejuvenated.

In order for your vision to become a reality, development and implementation of a plan are key.

As you begin to prepare for the New Year, instead of creating only a vision and a plan, create a strategy for making your plan happen. Adding an accountability resource from the beginning will keep you focused and on task throughout the entire process.

questionsQ: I’m wondering how I can find a balance between completing my year-end goals and having a relaxing holiday season. I don’t want the stress that usually comes during the holidays.
―Gretchen, PA

A: This time of year can certainly cause stress for many. As the year winds down and the holiday season gets into full gear, you can often find yourself pulled in many directions.

In order to find the balance that you are seeking, you first need to know what that balance looks like.

Answer this question: If you were to have a peaceful yet productive end of the year and holiday, what would that be like?

Jot down your answer and make sure that you don’t tell yourself “it’s not possible”. Use this as a brainstorming session – any answer is a great answer!

Once you have your “ideal” picture complete, it is time to develop a plan.

  1. What do you need to do to get as close to your ideal as possible?
  2. What do you need to cut out of your schedule?
  3. What are your priorities?

Make a plan based on your priorities and watch the pieces fall together. To help you stay on task, you may want to develop a weekly plan of attack to keep you focused and motivated throughout the remainder of the year.

Good luck and Happy Holidays!!

I appreciate your questions and am here to support you.

To Your Success,
